Lin’s Linens: 2013 A Year in Review

As the notes of the familiar Auld Lang Syne fill the air once again we pause

to watch the passing of the torch from Father Time to Baby New Year with a

combination of nostalgia and hope. 2013 was a record and notable year for Lin’s

Linens, Inc and I’d like to share some highlights with you.

2013 was a year to rebuild after the devastation that we named “Sandy”. It was

a time for taking stock of what we had left after those briny waters destroyed so

much of the supplies and items that we had accumulated. Through the generosity

of many caring people we were able to begin to regroup but it is an uphill climb

which we continue to make. We thank from the bottom of our hearts all who

contributed to our mission.

2013 was a record year in the number of rooms that we were able to give to

deserving Program Sisters. Through the cooperative efforts of our wonderful

family of designers and volunteers we completed 7 Healing Sanctuaries for

women going through treatment for malignant cancer. We cannot adequately

express our gratitude to those who give so generously of their time and talents

to make the vision that is Lin’s Linens a reality. With a current waiting list of 9

women we expect 2014 to break this record in a very short time span. We will

depend on the continued support of caring people to be able to reach our goal.

2013 was a year to come together and have fun while we raised funds for our

cause. Our Halloween Party, “Lets Scare the Hell Out of Cancer” on October 19th

was a night of entertainment with a purpose. We marveled at the creativity of

the costumes, shared good food and drink and danced until our feet hurt to the

sounds of DJ Charlie O. Please watch for updates as we will definitely be planning

to repeat this event for 2014 and you will not want to miss out on a great time!!!!

But through it all 2013 was a year of hope and prayer. We hope and pray that

through the positive mind, body and spirit connection we can bring healing to

women in the fight of and for their lives. We hope and pray that through these

tough economic times that we can rely on the generosity of caring individuals to

help us to fulfill our mission. And ultimately we hope and pray that a cure can be

found for this dreadful disease and that we can become obsolete.

As 2013 fades to a memory, I leave you with the words that ring in the New Year.

“We’ll take a cup of kindness yet, For auld lang syne.”

May 2014 bring you and yours health and happiness.

Liz Balogh
